What will we be covering?
PR and Media Relations:
We will equip you with the tools to promote yourself and your business successfully. Getting media coverage is cheaper and often more effective than advertising – and it works.
You will learn how to plan a press relations strategy which will help your company to be recognised as a market leader and increase your business.
You will identify interesting stories and learn how to write a winning press release that will capture the attention of editors and journalists and provide you with fantastic FREE coverage.
And we will give you the top five dos and don’ts of getting your company the headlines it deserves.
We will also look at how social media – Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin – can all help your business.
How do we do it?
We invite you to a wonderful venue, and with humour and expertise we enjoy our day’s training with you. You must be prepared to take part in the learning as we know this is most effective, but nobody will be asked to stand up and speak alone unless they really want to!
Who delivers the training?
Kevin Briscoe is the owner and director of Briscoe PR Ltd. His experience of handling the media comes after 23 years of working as a journalist on regional and national newspapers and broadcasters and handling media relations for large organisations such as Hampshire Police. As well as running his consultancy Kevin is a guest lecturer in theories and techniques of journalism at degree level at Portsmouth University. Kevin knows exactly how to get your story and your business into the relevant publications for your audience.
Cathy Madavan holds a degree in public relations and has worked for many years in public speaking, presenting and events management. Cathy has created and delivered all kinds of professional presentations – from small teams to festivals with thousands of attendees. She works for Briscoe PR, tours regularly public speaking for different organisations and also lectures at degree level in communications skills. Cathy is motivated by seeing people grow in confidence and expertise in presenting themselves.
What are the details?
The courses run from 9.30 until 4.00 and are held at the Marriot Hotel at Cosham just off the M27 junction 12.
Places on the course cost £125 (+VAT) for the whole day – which includes refreshments, a buffet lunch and all course materials.

Cancellation fees:
Once the course has been booked and confirmed following payment there is a sliding scale of charges for cancellation of the place.
If you cancel four weeks or more before the date of the course you will be entitled to a full refund less a handling charge of £10 per place.
If you cancel between two and four weeks before the date of the course you will forfeit 50 per cent of the cost of the course.
If you cancel less than two weeks before the date of the course you will forfeit 75 per cent of the cost of the course.
There will be no refund for cancellations within one week of the course.
